Private backup & restore

Your backup. Your password. Your choice.

Prayer Guard keeps personal content on your device by default. When you want a copy for a new phone or reinstall, you can create your own encrypted backup without sending it to Sevenfold Studio.

How it works

1. Open Settings → Private backup & restore.
2. Choose Create private backup and create a password.
3. Select a save location through Android's document picker: your phone, personal Google Drive, USB storage, or another available provider.
4. To restore later, select the saved file and enter the same password.

What the backup can restore

Journals, streaks, prayer history, guarded apps and modes, schedules, prayer times, personalization, quiz answers, and durable Family Guard or Commitment Lock settings.

Private before it leaves the app

• AES-256-GCM authenticated encryption
• PBKDF2-HMAC-SHA256 password-based key derivation
• New random salt and encryption IV for every backup
• No broad storage permission required
• No backup file or password sent to Sevenfold Studio

If you choose Google Drive, Google stores an already-encrypted file in your personal Drive. Prayer Guard does not upload it to a Prayer Guard account, because no such account or cloud database exists.

Important password warning

Your backup password is never stored and cannot be recovered. Without the correct password, the encrypted backup cannot be restored. Sevenfold Studio cannot unlock it for you.

Intentionally excluded

The backup does not copy Google Play subscription entitlement, Usage Access or other Android permissions, active 30-minute access windows, temporary parent-unlock sessions, or other temporary installation state. Google Play reverifies subscriptions, and Android permissions must be granted again on the new phone.

What “private by design” means

No Prayer Guard account. No Sevenfold cloud database. Personal content stays on your device by default, and an optional encrypted backup goes only where you choose. Read the full Privacy Policy.
