FAQ

Prayer Guard — frequently asked questions

Everything about the pray-to-unlock Christian app blocker for Android.

What is Prayer Guard?

Prayer Guard is a pray-to-unlock app blocker for Android built by Sevenfold Studio. When you open a distracting app like Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, YouTube, or Reddit, Prayer Guard intercepts it with a Bible verse, a short breathing pause, and a prayer matched to your mood. After praying, a grace window lets you continue — or, with Hard Block enabled, prayer is the only way in.

Does Prayer Guard have a free trial?

Prayer Guard offers a 7-day free trial on Google Play. If a supporter upgrade is offered, it exists for one reason: to support the developer so Prayer Guard can keep serving believers and reach more people — the same way a congregation supports its ministry. The worker is worthy of his wages (Luke 10:7), and every contribution goes toward keeping the app alive, private, and growing.

How is Prayer Guard different from other app blockers like Opal or one sec?

Secular blockers like Opal, one sec, and Freedom add friction — a timer, a breath, a 'do you really want this?' screen. Prayer Guard adds meaning: Scripture, prayer, and a moment with God. Instead of just saying no to the scroll, it redirects the impulse toward something better. It's also Android-first, while most faith-based blockers are iPhone-only.

Does Prayer Guard work on Android?

Yes — Prayer Guard is built for Android first. It supports per-app blocking, guard schedules, Hard Block, and a home-screen widget showing today's verse and your prayer streak. It is available on Google Play.

Is Prayer Guard available for iPhone?

Not yet. Prayer Guard is currently Android-only. If you'd like an iOS version, email info.sevenfoldstudio@gmail.com — hearing from you directly shapes the roadmap.

What is Hard Block?

Hard Block is a per-app setting that removes the grace window, making a completed prayer the only way to open that app. Use it for the one or two apps that own your attention, or during fasting seasons like Lent.

Does Prayer Guard collect my data?

No. Prayer Guard runs 100% on your device. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, and no analytics harvesting. Your prayer journal, streaks, and app choices never leave your phone, and Sevenfold Studio cannot read them.

Which apps can Prayer Guard block?

Any app you choose — social media (Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook, Reddit), video (YouTube), games, news, shopping, anything installed on your Android device. You pick the apps and the schedules.

Can Prayer Guard help with doomscrolling and phone addiction?

Yes — that's the point. Research on friction-based interventions shows that adding a pause before opening an app significantly reduces usage. Prayer Guard adds a spiritual layer on top: the pause becomes a verse, a breath, and a prayer, so the habit you build is devotion rather than mere abstinence. See our guide on how to stop doomscrolling.

What Bible content is inside Prayer Guard?

Prayer Guard includes 257+ Scripture passages and Christian scholar quotes, mood-matched prayers, a daily verse on the home-screen widget, and a private prayer journal.

Is Prayer Guard a parental control app?

No — Prayer Guard is a self-accountability tool for your own phone. It is designed to help you choose intentionally, not to police someone else's device.

Who makes Prayer Guard?

Prayer Guard is built by Sevenfold Studio, an independent solo developer studio. Contact: info.sevenfoldstudio@gmail.com.
